Book Review #11: Out of My Mind by Sharon M. Draper

I just finished reading the book Out of My Mind by Sharon M. draper. When I read the blurb of the book, it reminded me of my sister, Lynn. It reminded me of my sister because the main character Melody, cannot walk or talk or do anything for herself just like my sister. Even though Melody's body does not function like other people, she has a photography memory which means she can remember things from hearing or seeing them only once and her brain works perfectly. This book was really interesting because Melody gets something that helps her put her thoughts into words that it speaks. Once Melody gets used to using her machine, her teachers and classmates find that she is really really smart! Though she is smart and is now included in regular classes, she is still not treated like a "normal" person. All through the book, Melody faces the fact that people don't really care about your personality they only care what you look like. I think this a book for everyone. It teaches you about what a person who is different feels when they are not included and when people stare at them.

  1. Leigh,
The little of the book is really interesting, you can kinda predict what happens. It was really nice how you compared your sister into you blog! it is, it is like a movie instead of a book. I really want this book now. I have nit read any books like theses. Great blog post!
