Book Review #5: The Hunger Games

I recently started reading the book The Hunger Games. It is a book that I usually wouldn't have read if it was not recommended by a bunch of my friends. When I saw this book I was thinking that "Oh I am going to hate this." when I did not even know much about it. I started wanting to read this book during the previews of the movie Breaking Dawn. I saw the preview for this book and my friend leaned in to me and said "Oh my god. This movie comes out on my birthday!" I thought to my self "oh great I am going to be dragged to this stupid boy movie for my friends birthday." I asked my friends some more questions about the book and I got really interested in reading this book. I asked her if I could borrow the book on Saturday and she said yes.
I am now towards the end of the book and I am barely able to put the book down. It is so well written that I just keep reading and reading until I look at the time and it says 11:00 PM. The characters in the book and the plot is so well described and thought out that you feel like you are in the book and you can totally imagine what the characters are going through. One of my favorite scenes in the book that I can picture in my sleep is when Katniss has just been stung by the Tracker Jackers. In this scene, she fell into a pile of leaves when she thinks that is is a pile of orange humming creatures. These Tracker Jackers have made her hallucinate and think that things are different colors, textures and sizes. I don't know why this scene has stuck in my mind all I know is that when i was reading it, I imagined Katniss face first fall into a bed a orange humming creatures with her messy braid on the top of her head.
I would definitely recommend this book to anybody not just girls. I would recommend this book to anybody regardless of their gender because there is a little something for everyone in this book. There are plenty of fighting scenes, romance scenes and mystery scenes. When I read this book I think "Oh, she would like this or I can totally imagine him reading this book." I think that everyone should at least try to read this book because it is fantastic and anybody who wants to read it can read it after me when I am done. Holla at me if you want the book!

Book Review #4: So Much Closer

Last night I finished reading the book So Much Closer by Susane Colasanti. It was one of my favorite books that I have read this year. My favorite character in the book was John. John was my favorite character because he was really interesting and not predictable. John had a mental disability where he does not understand things and learn things as quickly as other people do. Even though all of the teachers at their school think that he is not smart, but he really is.
In the narration the main character, Brooke said that she felt bad for underestimating him when she was judging people. Brooke is tutoring John. During their tutoring sessions John takes Brooke to this place called Highlands. Highlands is this place where you can see all of New York and things that you don't see normally. While at Highlands, John points out the tops of the sky scrapers. On the sky scrapers there are these gardens on the roofs. Brooke thinks that they are so interesting. This book is one of my favorite books because it is not the predictable love stories that I usually read.
