I am almost to the end of reading the book Just Listen by Sarah Dessen. When I first started reading the book, it was really hard to keep reading the book. Even though the first part of the book was boring, as I kept reading, i began to learn more about everything that is happening in the book. Her sister has an eating problem and she has been hiding it from her family for a while. She recently fell out with her friend Sophie who has the reputation of a tough-cookie and if you mess with her, you better runaway to a different continent!
I really enjoy reading Sarah Dessen's books because they are well written and in all the books that I have read of hers, they all have the same high schools and they all flow together in some weird way. In the book the main character (Annabel Greene) has no friend for the first part of the book but, later starts to talk to this guy Owen that absorbs himself in music. Owen keeps giving Annabel these CD's and tells her to "just listen" (hence the title). Annabel is also a model and hates how people stereotype all models and say that they have everything. Sarah makes almost all her books interesting and I was recommended this book and I am now recommending to all of you.

Hey Leigh! Great job on this blog entry. I think that you really engaged the reader and made everything you talked abut sound easy to understand and very interesting. I have been thinking about reading this book for a while now, and your review is just making me want to read it that much more! I totally agree with you that books by Sarah Dessen are fantastic, and you always recommend great books to me, so I trust that this one will be wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI just LOVE Sarah Dessen's books. Yes, she writes about things that makes some folks uncomfortable - eating disorders, crushing on a guy, friendship problems, loss of parents - but she does it in a way that makes you really want to know what happens.
ReplyDeleteThe first book that I read of hers was The Truth About Forever which is still an absolute favorite. I do like how the books kind of mesh together, but once in a while it bugs me - it's such a small thing, really, as the books are so great to read.
Have you ever read Lauren Oliver's Before I Fall? She's another author that you might like.
